Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide a current overview of the museological and museographic debate on
the basis of historical examples, with particular attention to the events of the collecting in modern
and contemporary periods, to the architecture of the museum, to the policies of communication and
education.
Course contents
Collecting, art criticism and heritage conservation in Italy and Europe, in 19th and 20th centuries.
The course examines the birth and development of museums from the 16th century to the 20th century, with particular attention to art collecting, to the genesis and structure of the cataloging instruments, to art criticism and to politics of museums in Italy and Europe in 19th and 20th centuries.
