Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide a current overview of the museological and museographic debate on

the basis of historical examples, with particular attention to the events of the collecting in modern

and contemporary periods, to the architecture of the museum, to the policies of communication and

education.
Course contents
The collections and museums of antiquities in Italy from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment. The

course examines the birth and development of museums from the 16th century to the 20th century,

with particular attention to collecting of antiquities, to the genesis and structure of the instruments of

cataloging, to the critical reception.
