Course contents
The course deals with the concepts of conservation biology, with particular attention to the animals, and the applied ethology.
Conservation and management of: populations (population dynamics, small populations, metapopulations); species (action plans); communities and habitats (fragmentation, island biogeography, edge effect, protected areas).
Ethological aspects of conservation.
Assigning a conservation value, red lists; SPECs.
Legal issues at global, European, national, regional level.
Methods and techniques for the monitoring of animal biodiversity.
Censuses, samplings. Absolute methods and relative methods. Espert-based methods.
Analysis and presentation of data.
