Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide a clear guidance towards translating texts, in order to acquire a deeper ability of understanding roman inscriptions, thanks to the analysis of a selected epigraphical corpus.
Course contents
A selected collection of inscriptions (esp. funerary ones) will be presented, in order to illustrate the emergence of a distinctively Christian epigraphic culture as a gradual process.
An autoptical survey of Musei Civici of Pavia's epigraphical collection will take place at the end of the course.
