High school historical and scientific notions.
Learning outcomes
The course will address the current issues of bioethics that have developed as a result of recent advances in medicine. In particular, these topics will be considered: end of life, biological will, transplants, management of the vigilant coma, artificial fertilization, human reproduction, animal rights and climate change.
In the course emphasis will be given to a continuous comparison with prejudices, uncritical beliefs and fideistic intellectual automatisms that characterize the common perception of contemporary medicine, with regard to bioethics, not so infrequently even among healthcare professionals.

1) What is Bioethics, methodological aspects, historical notes.
2) Bioethical problems related with the recent developments of genetics.
3) Consciousness and free will
4) Consciousness disturbancies and bioethical problems
5) Living will
6) Human reproduction and bioethics
7) Animal right
8) Human actions and climate changes
Teaching methods
Lessons and possible visit to the Historical Museum of the University of Pavia.
