Learning outcomes
On successful course completion, students will have developed the communication skills and specialist English language knowledge of engineering professionals. More in detail, they will be able to:

- choose and use the technical jargon appropriate to the industrial and construction engineering sectors;

- collaborate effectively in teams to create or review documents;

- present their own projects in front of a variety of audiences.
Course contents
Engineers need very good communication skills as well as technical excellence. Based on this premise, the course is aimed at developing communication skills in the contexts in which engineering students expect to work after graduation: industrial, governmental, and applied research environments. It focuses on report writing, data analysis, project writing and presentations among other communication skills, and discusses how to communicate technical ideas to specialist as well as non-specialist audiences.
Teaching methods
Seminars, small group and pair work, lab activities, guest speakers' classes

Assessment methods
The exam to obtain the 3 CFU of English Language Lab will consist in a 10 minute oral presentation of one of the projects and/or processes relevant to the individual student's specialisation of choice.
