Prerequisites
No specific prerequisites are required. Knowledge of the basic elements of public law and of private law is appropriate.
Learning outcomes
The teaching wants to show the contribution of canon law to the creation of a juridical mentality and to the formation of a contemporary jurist. The expected target is to develop in students awareness of the importance of canon law in the formation of legal civilization and the knowledge of the main institutes of this law also in relation to secular rights.
Course contents
First of all, the teaching examines the historical evolution of the canon law and the relation between canon law and civil law. Then are described the basic lines of canon law, with particular attention to matrimonial law.
The course aims to contribute to the realization of some of the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030, with particular attention to goals n. 15

Assessment methods
The verification of learning takes place through an oral examination, which focuses on the knowledge of the main institutes of the canon law, also in relation to similar institutes of secular rights.
