Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the most popular bibliographic search tools (eg. Pavia University OPAC, SBN union catalogue, etc.), search engines and other web data sources, such as Wikipedia. A basic knowledge of informatics is also desirable.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to known the bibliographic tools useful for a correct research and processing of information, the knowledge of these tools will be useful for the elaboration dissertation or scientific articles.
The topics covered in the course will also be aimed at developing students' critical ability to read sources, their efficiency and reliability in relation to the information needs to be answered.
The critical evaluation of sources and information will be one of the main topics of the teaching.
Course contents
Bibliographic search tools: how do they work.
Identification and assessment of web resources.
Reference management tools.

Research methodology;
Criteria for writing an abstract;
Criteria for drafting a bibliography.

Students will be asked to write a bibliography on a topic agreed with the teacher.
Teaching methods
The course is held as a seminar meetings.
Bibliographic searches will be made. The resources retrieved will be descripted and evaluated. Abstract, bibliographies and webography will be drafted.

Assessment methods
Students will be asked to produce a bibliography on a subject of their choice, the paper will be commented during the exam.
They will also need to carry out an online search on an assigned topic.
