2017: RESEARCH on Sustainable Tourism

Worldwide, @UNWTO @10YFP

10YFP SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROGRAMME.

China Lab. has been appointed Academic partner of 10YFP Sustainable Tourism Programme.

The 10YFP Sustainable Tourism Programme (STP) is a collaborative platform to bring together existing initiatives and partnerships and facilitate new projects and activities to accelerate the shift to sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in tourism.

As an implementation mechanism for SDG12, with potential to advance other Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as well (among them SDG8 focusing on decent work and economic growth, SDG13 addressing climate change or SDGs14 and SDG15 on marine and terrestrial resources), the vision of the 10YFP STP is for a tourism sector that has globally adopted SCP resulting in enhanced environmental and social outcomes and improved economic performance.

The 10YFP STP focuses on four areas of work: 1) Integrating SCP in tourism related policies and frameworks; 2) Promoting collaboration among stakeholders for the improvement of the tourism sector's SCP performance - including the application of monitoring frameworks; 3) Fostering the application of guidelines, tools and technical solutions to mainstream SCP for destinations, enterprises and tourists; and 4) Enhancing sustainable tourism investment and financing.

China Lab. together with Tecnologico de Monterrey Mexico is organizing an International Design Competition … stay tuned … updating soon …

/// Research Workshop @MIT @CHINA LAB. @BOSTON @ENVISIONING THE FUTURE >>> >>> >>>

DECEMBER 19-22, 2016: RESEARCH WORKSHOP

CAMBRIDGE, MA, @MITsap @MITdusp

ENVISIONING THE FUTURE OF CITIES.

Using Boston as a case study

- Designing inclusive cities

- Open City: Designing Coexistence

- Share city: from “design for” to “design with”

- etc. etc. etc. TBD … … >>>

Organized and promoted by:

- Tunney Lee       @MITdusp

- Antonio DiMambro @dimambro

- Tiziano Cattaneo @UNIPV @CHINA LAB.

The research workshop will be developed using a specific perspective: Boston city as a case study to envision the future of the city development. The dialogue will be developed through two-pronged methods: observations (direct and indirect) and experiences (Lee and Di Mambro). Exploring the problematic question form different perspectives: from local to general and then from general to local using a specific history, or, a specific viewpoint which is that of the evolution of the city of Boston as a paradigmatic example of dynamic development. To focus on the experience of Boston does not mean turning the research toward the typical, the individual or the single case, but it means recognizing the manifestation of indicators in this particular topic that relate to the changes taking place and the general changes in the future. Boston is a dynamic economic, social, cultural making center. (From immigration emergency to acculturation using Boston as case study.)

Enhancing rural architecture, small towns, farmsteads and ancient relics is one of the main components for the regeneration of the countryside. It is a strategy with a positive outcome, even only if it has been supported simultaneously by the possibility of creating more business (also working from this architectural heritage), but which nevertheless is planned taking into account the improvement of the perceived aesthetic structure of the countryside.

Hello, you’ve reached the end of this page. If you have been here before, you may notice things shifting. We are working on our website. In fact, we may be working at this very moment, just as you are reading these very words. Things of value take time to grow, and their living evolution can be an integral part of their beauty. When is something finished, anyway?
