Prerequisites
The student must have attended a course in European Union law (institutional or general law). Otherwise they will have to study a relevant manual. The teacher is willing to give advice during the student reception.
Learning outcomes
The teaching aims to provide students with methods and tools for the analysis of the legal aspects of the elaboration and implementation of European Union policies and the functioning of the European Union institutions in the field of European economic law (internal market and related policies; economic and monetary union and banking union).
Course contents
The course is designed in view of the central role played by the public administrations of the Member States, at local, regional and national level, in the implementation of the policies of the European Union (so-called European administrative law). The course focuses on the subjects of economic law: internal market (free movement of persons, goods, services and capital), customs union and common trade policy; competition rules; certain related policies (economic and social cohesion policy, environmental policy, consumer protection, energy policy, agricultural policy and development aid). The policies to be investigated will be chosen together with the teacher during the first lesson on the basis of a first proposal from the teacher.

Teaching methods
There will be alternating lessons and student presentations. The programme of lessons proposed by the teacher, with the possibility of choice regarding certain themes. The programme of student presentations will be chosen together with the students.
The teaching will be based on the analysis of legal texts of European Union law: treaties, legislative and implementing instruments (directives, regulations, decisions, international agreements), case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Relevant texts will be accessible in advance on the Kiro platform and should be read before the presentation for students' presentations.
Until the risk of Covid-19 counting disappears, lessons and presentations will be streamed on the Zoom platform.

Assessment methods
For FREQUENTING students: evaluation of active participation in the course, with case and text presentations. Commitment to presentation preparation, clarity of presentation and critical reflection efforts will be assessed. At the oral test of the exam, the student will draw one of the topics presented by other students and comment on the text already studied in the classroom.
For NON-FREQUENTING students, the exam will focus on one of the topics covered in the book by Amedeo Arena - Francesco Bestagno - Giulia Rossolillo,
