Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of economics is needed to attend the course.
Learning outcomes
Know and understand basic topics of economics of innovation, with a focus on the role of innovation in emerging countries
Acquire the economic tools needed to understand the role played by innovation in the development process
Use autonomously these tools to analyze the role of innovation in the growth process at country level
Course contents
1) Fundamental issues of economics of innovation;
2) Systems of innovation;
4) Localisation and diffusion of innovation and network externalities;
5) The globalization of innovation
6) Technological catch up in emerging countries.
Teaching methods
Students will be involved in group activities in which the focus will be on
the methodologies of empirical research in the economics of innovation.
