50 lesson hours
Activity type
WRITTEN AND ORAL TEST
Prerequisites
A good notion of the contents of the course "Matematica" (Mathematics) is a prerequisite for attending this course with success
Learning outcomes
The course aims at introducing the student to the most important notions of numerical analysis. The student will also be provided with some basic background on computer programming.
Course contents
Non linear equations. Linear equations. Interpolation and polynomial approximation. Derivatives. Numerical integration. Approximation of ordinary differential equations.
Teaching methods
Lectures and labs
Reccomended or required readings
Students will be provided with links to lecture notes and textbooks
Assessment methods
Written test (partly multiple choice and partly open questions). The aim of the test is to assess the knowledge of the numerical methods learned during classes and labs. An oral exam on the theory follows the test. Students who reach a predetermined mark in the test can avoid the oral exam.
