Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of MSA Arabic is required. Students who did not show, during the admission interview, an adequate level of knowledge are required to follow the intensive course, which will be held in September 2018, as well as the course of Arabic 2, first degree (first semester 2018/2019).
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with the linguistic tools for a) understanding and translating the news provided by the Arabic media (press, television, internet); b) searching for information on the main Arabic websites.
Course contents
In this module students will learn the language of the Arab media and how to use the most common syntactic structures, with special reference to the vocabulary of meetings and conferences, elections and demonstrations.
The course will enable students to master core vocabulary and structures typical of front-page news, while engaging them in activities including extensive practice of words used in context, organizing information, skimming, scanning and analyzing content.

Articles from the main Arabic media.

Assessment methods
The exam consists of written and oral tests.
Further information
The course consists of two compulsory modules, Advanced Arabic 1 and Advanced Arabic 2; 9 ECTS for each module.
