Learning outcomes
The program is designed to test the archetypal architectural forms and their articulated relationship with the contemporary urban landscape. The course aims to convey the complexity of the design culture starting from simple basic elements.
The architectural design is intended as a process of knowledge, interpretation and transformation of the territory, analyzing the forms, functions, meanings, modes / operating models and technological innovations.
Course contents
The discipline of architecture is understood in all its rich and problematic aspects: from the necessity of incorporating the history to the foundations of modernity and contemporary complexity, from the economic and programmatic issues to the poetic outcome, from the technology of the project to that deep metaphorical meaning.
The course is divided into small working groups engaged in thematic-typological documentation, experimentation and development of practical experiences of an architectural structure with increasing degrees of complexity, in the specific processing of various design concepts.
The teaching structure is organized in ex cathedra lectures (topics: urban design, architectural design, landscape design, dynamics of transformative contemporary metropolis), supporting communications (by representatives of academia and professionals), design workshops and educational seminars about the quality of the space in the different scalar relationships and interrelationships between the development of the project, the tools for monitoring space and the definition of the representation and construction of architecture’s codes.
