Prerequisites
Basic notions of political history.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to study the fundamental transformations of the international political system seen in the methodological perspective of the history of international relations.
Course contents
The course provides skills for the study of the following topics:
- birth and evolution of the international system
- from the eurocentric system of empires to the global system of nation-states
- international politics between world wars and "short century"
- decolonization and Global Cold War: interpretative paradigms
- significant moments in the processes of globalization, fragmentation and international regionalization
- the transformations of the international system after the end of the cold war
- the international challenges of the new Millennium.

Lectures.
Reccomended or required readings
Specific indications on texts will be provided in class.

Students not attending will have to agree on a supplementary reading.
