Learning outcomes
This course aims to provide basic knowledge of written and spoken Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), introducing the alphabet and writing system, principles of grammar and syntax as well as simple set texts and basic conversation skills.
Course contents
In the first module, students will learn the writing, the phonology and the reading of the Arabic alphabet, along with the basic rules of Arabic morphology (roots and patterns), grammar and the performance of elementary conversations.

Lectures with the help of tutorial DVDs.

The course is divided into two compulsory modules: Arabic 1 (second semester) and Arabic 2 (first semester), 6 ECTS for each module; a third module, Arabic 3 (6 ECTS), is optional.
