Learning outcomes
The course aims to study:
- the role of the United States in the evolution of the international system
- the relations between American foreign policy and European policies.
Course contents
The course provides skills for the study of the following topics:
- evolution of the fundamental lines and role of the main protagonists of American foreign policy
- transformation of the United States from power with predominantly continental interests to global power
- loss of Europe's global role and corresponding changes
- main historical transformations of transatlantic relations in the context of the contemporary international system.
Teaching methods
Lectures, and specific topics.
Reccomended or required readings
Specific indications on texts will be provided in class.
Reference book:

Students not attending will have to agree on a supplementary reading.
Assessment methods
Written exam with open questions.
