Learning outcomes
This course introduces the main topics of economics of innovation. There will be a focus on analyzing and understanding empirical evidence concerning emerging countries.
Course contents
1) Fundamental issues of economics of innovation;
2) Intellectual property rights;
3) Measuring innovation;
4) The role of geography and externalities;
5) Systems of innovation;
6) Innovation and emerging countries.
Teaching methods
Students will be involved in group activities in which the focus will be on the methodologies of empirical research in the economics of innovation.
Reccomended or required readings
The reading list will be available when the course will start.
Assessment methods
Written examination based on short essays. Group works will also be evaluated.
