Knowledge of history and international relations

The course aims to study:
- the phenomenon of intergovernmental organizations in the context of the history of international relations
- the historical cycles and the different types of international organizations, both internal and external to the "UN system".

The course provides skills for the study of the following topics:
- historical evolution of the international system (main concepts)
- historical profiles and characterizing elements of international organizations
- the roles of international organizations (political, economic, military, cultural) in the historical processes of globalization, fragmentation and international regionalization
- State security systems and mechanisms of economic cooperation from a historical perspective
- evolution and dynamics of the "UN system" and of the "Bretton Woods system" from its origins to today
- interrelations (competition / cooperation) between global organizations and regional organizations facing the new challenges of the international system after the end of the Cold War.
The course will be supplement by monographic studies.
