Prerequisites
No prerequisites. However, at the beginning of the course the knowledge of Friedrich Dürrenmatt's novel La promessa will be tested and evaluated.
Learning outcomes
The course examines the literature of the twentieth century with particular reference to literary communication, to the principal fields of Literaturwissenschaft, as well as to some classical works. In addition to this will be also considered textual analysis and basic knowledge about film adaptation of literature (Literaturverfilmung). German notions will be frequently used. At course end students should be able to answer questions about all course items.
Course contents
The analysis of some representative works will provide the necessary knowledge in order to better understand the literary discourses of all considered ages, currents and movements.
Teaching methods
Lectures based on powerpoint slides, written texts, videos and seminars.

Please notice: La promessa (the novel as well as the film) should be known before course beginning.
Non-attending students should contact the teacher for integrations.
Assessment methods
Oral exam including an oral translation test. The teacher will consider positively the observance of the prerequisite and an active course participation.
