Prerequisites
Knowledge of Latin language fundamentals; Knowledge of the history of Italian literary culture between the 13th and 14th centuries
Learning outcomes
The course intends to guide the student to the understanding of historical, geographical and cultural factors at the origin of humanism and its transition from a local phenomenon of a Venetian area to a cultural movement of European dimension. You will be faced with the reading and understanding of some particularly significant texts
Course contents
From Venetian umanists to European Humanism.
Through the examination of different types of sources, a panorama of the Latin culture of the 13th-14th centuries will be drawn, paying attention to the new way of approaching the classical world that characterized the historical and cultural period under consideration. It will be reflected on the figure of Francesco Petrarca as through the pre-humanism of Venetian and humanism in Europe
