Learning outcomes
The Organizational Psychology course aims to analyze the basic topics and areas of competence of the discipline, in the light of recent changes in the labour market and organizational structures. The course will examine the changes in work organizations and the impact that these changes produces on individual and collective organizational behaviours. During the course will be presented the main theoretical approaches and some of the typical problems of psychological analysis of organizations.
Course contents
The course will focus on:
- developments in the discipline
- socio-economic scenario and future trends
- organizational structures and their main problems
- working groups
- leadership
- organizational cultures and climates
- workplace safety in complex technological systems
- organizational change and organizational development.
Teaching methods
Teaching methods used in this course will include three types of activities:
- lectures supplemented by discussions
- group assignments to deepen specific topics
- moments of learning evaluation.

Examination is based on the following book:

Argentero P., Cortese C., Piccardo C. (a cura di), Manuale di psicologia del lavoro e delle organizzazioni, Volume II: Psicologia delle organizzazioni, Raffaello Cortina Editore, Milano, 2009.
Assessment methods
Assessment includes a written examination.
For attending students are given the opportunity to replace the written examination with some ongoing essays and project reports on specific topics identified during the course.
For not attending students is provided a questionnaire with open questions on the topics suggested by the text. For each question is assigned a weight according to the importance of the issue referred to. More general information will be available on the front of the questionnaire and directly from the teacher the day of examination.
Students who wish to supplement the written test with an oral examination are required to agree with the teacher a reference text.
