Learning outcomes
In a global context characterized by a growing interdependence between countries and given the increasing complexity of modern social and economic systems, questioning the meaning of human
progress and the search for models of fair and sustainable development, necessarily requires the acceptance of a complex and multidisciplinary perspective. This course aims offering such a broad perspective for understanding the current development processes. The intent is to contribute to increase the awareness and relevance of this topic in order to identify responsible and sustainable trajectories of development .
Course contents
What is meant by "sustainability"? Should development and progress be analyzed with reference to specific contexts or can criteria of general validity be identified? What is the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development? What are the limits to development in terms of exploitation and conservation of resources?
These are some of the questions that the course intends to deal with in a multidisciplinary perspective. Teachers from different subject areas (ranging from law to economics, from chemistry to demography) will contribute to this course.
The course includes two main parts: part A will offer a general overview while part B will focus on more specific topics.
