Prerequisites
the course is divided into basic and advanced course: basic course will be awarded to students based on enrollment documentation (admission requirements) will not result in appropriate skills (students in this situation will contacted and informed of the activities to be followed to retrieve the initial deficits training), all the other students instead attend the advanced course; you can not switch from one course to another without prior agreement with the teacher.
Learning outcomes
objective of the course is the consolidation of linguistic and literary knowledges about the ancient Latin texts.
Course contents
lessons: Latin epic between myth and history (the texts will be provided during the lessons).

individual study: Cicero, De amicitia; Virgil, Aeneid, one book by choice; A. Traina, G. Bernardi Perini, Propedeutica al latino universitario, capp. III and VII; History of Latin Literature from the origins to Apuleius on M. Mortarino, M. Reali, F. Turazza, Profilo storico della letteratura latina, Loescher, Torino or G.B. Conte, Letteratura latina, Le Monnier, Firenze or E. Romano, G. Picone, F. Gasti, Lezioni romane, Loescher, Torino.
For the texts and the manuals there are exercitations in the Latin Lab.
Teaching methods
lectures.

in preparation for the examination are provided for supplementary activities for a total of 60 hours, 3 credits will be recognized for attending the course: see item Latin Lab (other activities).
Reccomended or required readings
the bibliography will be shown during the lessons.
Assessment methods
the final exam is in oral form, provides translation and linguistic examination of the texts of Cicero and Virgil quoted above, questions about the chapters III and VII of Propedeutica al latino universitario, questions about the history of Latin Literature and then translation and commentary of literary texts presented during the lessons. Students not attending an alternative program may agree with the teacher.

written exam are required for all the students whose curriculum includes more than 12 credits in L-FIL-LET/04 Latin language and literature, the written test may support since the first year.
