A good knowledge of Greek morphemics and syntax.

Aim of the course is investigating some problems of historical morphemics and syntax of Greek in order to approach the linguistic and formal characteristics of the ancient texts in a more conscious and analytic manner.

Title of the course:
Various problems of Greek morphemics, syntax and lexicon.

Program:
- Deep knowledge of the problems of morphemics, syntax and lexicon discussed during the lectures.
- Reading, translation and commentary of Hdt. 7,1-2 and Menander, Aspis as well as of a series of passages by various authors (Homer, archaic lyric poetry, tragedy, comedy and epigrams of the Palatine Anthology) to illustrate the topics covered during the course.

Provided that, for the specificity of the topics covered, frequency is highly recommended, not attending students should contact the lecturer in order to agree on a plan of alternative readings.

We suggest as useful reference books, respectively for Greek morphemics and syntax:
- P. Chantraine, Morphologie historique du grec, Paris 1964.
- J. Humbert, Syntaxe grecque, Paris 1986 (III éd.).

Further references to the texts we read will be recommended during the course.
