Prerequisites
Good knowledge of written and spoken Russian.
The course is for students with at least B2 skills, according to the European Language Knowledge Framework
Learning outcomes
The course aims to improve knowledge of Russian and the linguistic skills acquired during previous studies for academic and professional purposes.
Development of skills necessary for the autonomous written production.
The student at the end of the course will master a wide lexicon in various fields. He will be able to read texts of various kind, to understand radio and television broadcasts.
Course contents
Russian a- (c.p.)
The course will improve the theoretical and practical knowledge about the syntax of complex period of Russian language and analyze some different types of style and language, highlighting their lexical, syntactic and communicative features.

Particular attention will be paid to the translation from Italian into Russian and from Russian into Italian, as well as to the skills necessary for the autonomous written production.

Syntax: Improvement of the knowledge about syntax of complex period.

Linguistic styles: The base of literary, scientific, commercial/contractual and conversational styles will be analyzed.

Translation: Underlining the main principles on which translation should be based, the translation from Italian into Russian and from Russian into Italian will be exercised.

Communication skills: Ability to report facts, describe situations, expres personal meaning. Ability to report and discuss scientific, literary and linguistic matter, as well as news.

Russian b- (cp), students' oral and translational skills will be refined, including multimedia translation, with the creation of transcriptions of oral texts and creation of Italian subtitles for Russian films, with the help of special programs (Subtitle Edit, Subtitle Workshop).
In addition, the students will be given the necessary tools and self-written production.



The course will be supported by practical exercises in language, taught by Assistant Language (CEL), which will have annual duration.

All materials and books are available in the department of modern foreign languages ​​and literatures.

During the years some texts will be distributed for self-work. These texts will be a part of the oral exam.

Non-attending students are invited to contact the professor.
Assessment methods
Preliminary test and oral exam.
Russian a- (c.p.)
Written exam: a multiple choice test on verbal use, use of subordinates, use of short adjectives, a brief composition on classroom topics.
Russian b- (c.p.)
In the preliminary text, students will translate two texts from Italian into Russian and vice versa, and will write a brief essay.
In the oral exam, in addition to the grammatical topics taught during the lessons,the students will provide the translation of a short story assigned by the teacher (which must be sent to the lecturer at least 10 days before the examination) and the transcription and subtitling in italiano of a clip from a film.
