Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide solid historical, theoretical, methodological and critical instruments to understand the main lines of theatre directing, evaluating the relationship between text and scene, the development of acting techniques, performance in tradition and avant-garde. Particular attention will be given to the open air theatre and the complex work required for the art of directing: considering some important cases of European directors in Italy, it will provide a broad framework of reflections on the re-use of spaces, the experimentation and the new perspectives offered by this practice. Finally, will be analysed the work of director Gianfranco De Bosio for the staging of Goldoni’s comedy The Coffee House (Venice, Campo San Trovaso, 1993).
