Prerequisites
No specific prerequisites are requested. Yet it is useful thatstudents have learnt the basic sociological vocaboulary and the explicative logic in the previous sociology courses, in particular in the General Sociology one.
Learning outcomes
The course aim at providing students with an apparatus of theoretical and conceptual tools in order to understand and analyse the main organizational phenomena (e.g.: structures, organizational culture, the power structures and relations, the organization-social environment relations, the organizational change dynamics). This with the purpose to provide students with practical analytical tools and competences in order to understand and anlyse different organizational contexts and the skills to relate with them with an enough robust theoretical-conceptual background.
Course contents
The course is based on the following six subject areas:
1) Definition of organization
2) The organizational structure and its types
3) The organizational culture
4) Power in organizations and its types
5) The organization-social environment relations
6) Logics and dynamic of organizational change
Teaching methods
Lessons will be delivered through the traditional in-front lecture. Yet, students are encouraged to actively participate to lesson by some occasions of reflection and discussion on specific topics and aspects, drawn from real cases suitable to be analyzed through exposed theories and concepts.

Didactic material, both for attending and not attending students, to prepare the examination is the following book:

Assessment methods
The exam, both for attending and not attending students, is a written examination constituted by one open question to be aswered in an argumentative way (5 points out of 10), two questions to be answered in a short way (1,5 points each out of 10) and five closed questions (True/False; 0,4 points each out of 10)
This examination modality aims at assessing and verifying the learning of studied contents, the specialized vocabulary, skills in presenting them appropriately
Further information
Although the lecture note and the exam are the same for attending and not attending students, the latter are invited to contact the teacher for a talk in order to evaluate whether any gaps are to be filled.
