Prerequisites
Online entry test "Lingua Tedesca" on KIRO platform of the Language Center (Centro Linguistico) within the beginning of the academic activies 2017/18.

Attendance at the language classes of the Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico (Didattica Integrativa / Dott.ssa Heike Fremdling) at the CIM Course (Comunicazione, Innovazione e Multimedialità).

Please save your entry test result in order to register yourself in the correct language course (see: KIRO - "Tedesco per Scienze Politiche e CIM" at Centro Linguistico).

Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able
- to use the main grammar structures and vocabulary of the German language approximately at an A2 level
- to understand and use autonomously a wide range of vocabulary related to different media and communication aspects

In particular, CIM students (9 credit points) will be able
- to present orally a "digital story" related to a topic discussed during the course and composed by themselves in German

Political Science students (6 credit points) will be able
- to comprehend, analyse and put into context a media product (article, web page, TV format, etc.) in German

The parallel activities of the Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico will introduce to the main grammar and lexical structures of the German language and deepen students active and passive communication skills at an A2 level.
Course contents
Students will learn about the media system in Germany (aspects of communication studies, organisation of the press, public and private TV and radio stations, digital media trends) and basic aspects of the use of the German language in different media contexts.

Students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge regarding:
- the German media system (history, economic and social background, actual situation, digital media trends, ... )
- specific language and vocabulary features regaring different media and communication aspects
- skills regarding the ability to create and manage a media product in German language
Teaching methods
The didactic method includes innovative teaching approaches ("flipped classroom", collaborative learning) as well as various interactive exercises in class in order to stimulate the use of the foreign language as well as shared moments of discussion and thoughts about the German media system and organisation.

The practical part of the course will focus on the creation and composition of a Digital Story in German language (for CIM students only).
Reccomended or required readings
Regarding the course LINGUA TEDESCA:
- Presentations, articles and further material will be available on the KIRO platform - CIM (Corso: Lingua Tedesca 2017/18).

Regarding the lessons of the Collaboratore ed Esperto Linguistico the following material will be used:

1) Beginners e false beginners (GRUNDKURS A/B und MITTELKURS):
- DaF kompakt neu A1, Kurs- und Übungsbuch, Klett Verlag, ISBN 978-3-12-676313-4 (first semester)
- DaF kompakt neu A2, Kurs- und Übungsbuch, Klett Verlag, ISBN 978-3-12-676314-1 (second semester)

2) Advanced Learners (Oberkurs):
- A list of the necessary material will be distributed by Dott.ssa Fremdling at the beginning of the course.

Assessment methods
The final exam is divided into two parts:

1) A WRITTEN TEST regarding the program of the language lessons (Dott.ssa Fremdling - livello A2), which tests skills and abilities in grammar, vocabulary, written and oral comprehension.
Students who have an official language certification (B1 and higher) are not obliged to do the written comprehension, but only need to take the oral test.

CIM students (9 credit points), in addition, need to prepare a written assignment which will be evaluated jointly with the written test mentioned above.
Students will be informed on the topics of the written assignment and the deadlines during the classes by Dott.ssa Fremdling.
The written test is valid for 12 months.


2) An ORAL EXAM regarding the course "LINGUA TEDESCA" on behalf of Prof.ssa Berndt

In order to have access to the oral exam you need to pass the written test with a minimum mark of 18/30.

The oral exam regards

1) the theoretical part of the course (to be discussed in German or Italian):
- The German media system (Communication Science, the press system, the TV and Radio system, history of German media, digital media trends, ... )

2) the practical part of the course:

CIM STUDENTS (9 credit points):
Presentation in German of a "digital story", written in German and related to a topic discussed in class; analysis of linguistic items in the presentation (grammar or vocabulary aspects); contextualization of the content proposed in the presentation and connection to theoretical aspects.

POLITICAL SCIENCES and INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS students (6 credit points):
Presentation in German of a "media product" (newspaper article, web site, TV format, ... ), related to a topic discussed in class; analysis of linguistic items in the presentation (grammar or vocabulary aspects); contextualization of the content proposed in the presentation and connection to theoretical aspects.

The topic of the "digital story" and the "media product" can be chosen by the student, but needs to be agreed upon with the teacher of the course (Prof.ssa Berndt). Both presentations (link to the "digital story" or to the "media product") need to be sent to the attention of Prof.ssa Berndt at least 48 hours before the oral exam.

DIDATTICA INTEGRATIVA (Mothertongue language classes):

'in order to be assigned to the Didattica Integrativa class appropriate for your level (Dott.ssa Heike Fremdling /heike.fremdling@unipv.it) you need to do the Online Entry Test on the KIRO platform of the Centro Linguistico d'Ateneo.

The result of the test will tell you which course to attend starting from the beginning of the academic year 2017/18. For further information please check KIRO->CLA->Tedesco per Scienze Politiche e CIM.

The timetable of the classes of Dott.ssa Fremdling will be published on the website of the Corso di Studi in CIM.

The courses available are (for both students of CIM and POLITICAL SCIENCES AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS):

1) Beginners: Grundkurs A 60 hours (first semester) / Mittelkurs 40 hours + Schreiben 12 hours (second semester)
2) False Beginners: Grundkurs B 24 hours (first semester) / Mittelkurs 40 hours + Schreiben 12 hours (second semester)
3) Advanced students: Oberkurs 40 hours (first semester) / Schreiben 12 hours (second semester)

The Schreiben-Course is NOT compulsory for Political Sciences and International Relations students.
