Learning outcomes
The course is intended to provide knoweledge on the current role, structure and evolution of the international organizations, both governmental and non-governmental.
Course contents
The program is divided into two parts: the first part will be devoted to the definition and classification of international organizations according to the main theoretical approaches, evolution, purpose and specific characteristics, with a specific focus on the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The second part will be devoted to the analysis of case studies in the field of conflict, post conflict, elections, institution building and democratization. The analysis of the Missions in South Africa, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Kosovo will highlight successes and failures, providing evaluation insights and critical reflection on their work. The final lecture will be devoted to non-governmental organizations.
