Prerequisites
To attend Part B, the student must have previously attended Part A of History of the ancient Near East
Learning outcomes
The purpose of the course is to provide an in-depth study of the notions on the institutional, politic, social and cultural history of the Ancient Near Eastern regions in the pre-classical period.
Course contents
2nd part ('Modulo' B):
1. Aspects of society, religion and culture. The cuneiform script
2. The Gilgamesh Epic (text tradition, content , interpretation and recent studies)

Oral examination: Knowledge of the manual and of the topics discussed during the classes; the epic of gilgamesh (aspects and problems presented and discussed); translation of short parts of the Hammurabi code (akkadian language) or other alternative text (in Italian or English Language)
