Basis knowledge concerning history of German literature (periods, genres etc.), literature analysis, film adaptation analysis. Students should have read Friedrich Dürrenmatts "Der Besuch der alten Dame" before the course starts. Language level: B2

The course offers to the students a wide range of notions about some representative literary works from Enlightenment to the so-called "Klassische Moderne". Students should be able to understand, translate into Italian and comment the selected texts.
Der Kursus setzt sich als Ziel, den Studierenden ein möglichst vollständiges Bild der Epochen, Strömungen, Gattungen und Begriffe der deutschsprachigen Literatur vom Barock bis zur Gegenwart zu vermitteln. Eine breite Auswahl von Klassikern oder von gattungs- und epochentypischen Texten sorgt für ein vielfältiges Panorama der literarischen Produktion. Alle Texte werden in der Originalsprache oder in italienischer Übersetzung nach den Methoden der Literaturwissenschaft vorgestellt und kritisch in Betracht gezogen. Ein Teil des Arbeitspensums ist spezifisch der literaturwissenschaftlichen Analyse gewidmet und versteht sich als Fortsetzung der Einführung, die während des Kursus Letteratura tedesca 1 geliefert wurde. Zum Schluss wird das literarische Werk als intermediales Phänomen bzw. als Verfilmungsobjekt berücksichtigt. Im Detail besteht der Kursus aus folgenden Modulen: 1. Epochen der deutschsprachigen Literatur vom Barock bis zur Gegenwart, 2. Gattungen der deutschsprachigen Literatur vom Barock bis zur Gegenwart, 3. Kritische Lektüren von Klassikern, 4. Literaturwissenschaftliche Textanalyse, 5. Grundbegriffe der Literaturverfilmung und Fallanalysen. Der Kursus wird in deutscher Sprache gehalten. Bei Verständigungsproblemen dient das Italienische als Hilfssprache. Alle Texte werden jedoch übersetzt; die korrekte Übersetzung ins Italienische ist Bestandteil der mündlichen Prüfung.

The course examines German literature from Baroque to the modern age. Aim of the course is providing students with detail knowledge, translation and analytic skills concerning interpretation. Film adaptation of literature (Literaturverfilmung) will also be considered.

Lectures based on powerpoint slides, written texts, audiovisual material and seminars.

The oral exam in German language will test the successfull reception of all course items and the ability to describe, analyze, traduce and comment the selected works. in Italian the course section concerning Thomas Mann. Active participation to the seminars will be positively considered.
