Prerequisites
French Literature 2: students must have passed the first-year French Literature Examination.

French Literature 3: modern Language students must have passed the second-year French Literature Examination. Students from other disciplines whose knowledge of French is not up to standard are required to have passed the Language examination before taking the Literature Exam
Learning outcomes
Besides offering a broad perspective in historical and literary terms, the course, with the analysis of highly significant texts, is intended to provide basic methodological capacities (philological, or thematic, or narratological, or semiotic, or linguistic) for the analysis of the literary text.
Course contents
Lecture and analysis of Mémoires d'Hadrien (1951) by Marguerite Yourcenar.

French Literature 2:
Students are expected to study the history of 19th and 20th century French Literature, making use of the following text book: Bertini, Accornero, Bongiovanni, Giachino, Lire. Littérature et culture françaises, Milano, Einaudi Scuola, 2002, 2 vol.
