Learning outcomes
This course aims (i) at providing students with the conceptual skills for the analysis of the philosophical problems concerning the legal systems and (ii) at strengthening students' critical and reasoning skills.
Course contents
This course is devoted in the first place to the analysis of the different conceptions of law and in the second place to specific philosophical problems as prescriptive language, validity, analogy. During the course, students will participate in guided philosophical debates concerning some relevant issues.
Teaching methods
The lectures are conducted with a dialogical method and an analytical approach.
Reccomended or required readings
The students who attend the lectures can define the set texts together with the lecturers.
For the students who do not attend the lectures, the set texts are the following:
- A.G. CONTE, Adelaster. Il nome del vero. Milano, LED, 2016 (six chapters).
- H. KELSEN, Che cos’è la giustizia? Lezioni americane. A cura di Paolo Di Lucia e Lorenzo Passerini Glazel. Macerata, Quodlibet, 2015 (pages 103-206).
Assessment methods
Oral examination through with questions concerning the main topics of the discipline aimed at assessing the understanding of the key concepts used in philosophical arguments.
