Course contents
The course aims to understand the role of the interaction between cells and / or molecules (cytokines, chemokines and receptors) of the immune system with cells of the nervous system in particular conditions: normal, experimental and pathological conditions. Will be considered the new concepts of innate and acquired immunity in the light of updated scientific findings; will study the role of APCs in the central nervous system, of dendritic cells and of natural killer cells and LAK. Will explain the nervous system infections, the lysosomal storage diseases, the paraneoplastic syndromes, the astrocytic tumors and the tumor escape mechanisms.
Teaching methods
The course will be integrated with optical microscopic observations of cellullar and tissue preparations and topical seminars.
