Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide students with a general overview of a central feature of law and its application: legal interpretation.
Course contents
The first part of the course is devoted to the problem of meaning; the second part deals with the subjects, the forms, the arguments and the discipline of legal interpretation; the third part examines the main competing theories of legal interpretation (cognitive theories versus sceptical theories) developed in the contemporary debate.
Teaching methods
The course adopts the method and style of analytical philosophy
Reccomended or required readings
The examination will exclusively concern the topics and materials discussed during the lectures.
