Students must have passed the third-year examination of German literature (Triannial Degree)

The aim of the course is to investigate the different areas of literary criticism, poetics, textual analysis and historical and cultural contexts in order to enable students to master an author, a genre or a period of German literature.

Narratological and thematic analysis of Theodor Fontane's "Schach von Wuthenow" (1883) and "Der Stechlin" (1898). Parallely will be discussed the main lines of Friedrich Schiller's aesthetics.

The last three weeks of the course will be expended to the poetic and thematic analysis of Heinrich von Kleist's plays "Amphitryon" (1807) and "Penthesilea" (1808).
