Prerequisites
In order to sit for the examination, students must have passed the French Language 2 exam.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to help students to familiarize with the main devices of French lexicology and to improve their lexical skills for successful communication at level B2/C1 of the Common European Framework.
Course contents
The course will first survey major issues in French lexicology, considering morphological and semantic phenomena.
We will then focus on the onomasiological analysis (including idioms) of five important semantic areas concerning common aspects of daily life.
The French Language 3 course includes the "CEL" lessons (see below).
Teaching methods
Interactive lectures. Practical exercices during the lessons. To attend the course, students will need the textbook 1) indicated below and the photocopies prepared by the lecturer. A copy of this reference material will be available at the Foreign Languages Department - French section. It will be possible to make one's own copy of the photocopies at the CLU bookshop.

Assessment methods
Examination will consist of a written test (lexical exercices) and of an oral exam (an interview on the lexicology topics covered during the course).
Students must have passed the written exam before sitting for the oral one.
