Learning outcomes
Providing students with a wide knowledge about contemporary Germany from differents point of views.
Course contents
The course pursues two main interwoven goals. First it will provide students with a wide knowledge concerning history, geography, politics and culture. In particular will be considered the Bundesländer, Berlin, the Rhine, historical issues such as the Wirtschaftswunder or socioeconomic problems like immigration in Germany or the relationship between industry and human rights. Finally the course will also focus on giving a basic understanding of the Federal system with its state institutions. Then it will give an outlook of contemporary literature from 1945 until the present day.
Teaching methods
Lectures based on powerpoint slides, written texts and films.
