CALLEGARI ATHOS MARIA - 1 ECTS
Prerequisites
A good knowledge of inorganic chemistry (in particular solid state, chemical bonds, coordination of transition and alkaline metals) is required.
Learning outcomes
The teaching is aimed at the recognition of the fundamental minerals of the rocks and their morphological and structural description.
Course contents
The systematic classification of the fundamental minerals of the rocks is treated, giving greater importance to the silicate minerals.
The morphology and crystal structure of minerals. Simple forms and associations.

Crystallochemistry: isomorphism and polymorphism in minerals; complete solid solutions and miscibility gaps; examples in the minerals of the rocks.
Teaching methods
Classroom lectures performed by means of Power Point presentations and insights on the blackboard. Minerals will also be shown for their recognition and morphological description.
Reccomended or required readings
Didactic materials provided by the teacher
KLEIN C. (2004): Mineralogy Zanichelli Ed.
Assessment methods
The exam will consist of a single written test on the modules of the course. The recognition and description of a mineral will be required. The evaluation obtained will be averaged with the vote of the module I.
