Learning outcomes
General psychology is a discipline that applies the experimental method to the study of basic psychological functions.
The course aims to provide knowledge on the origin and evolution of psychological thinking and method, cognitive processes and their relationship with social, emotional and motivational aspects.

It also wants to stimulate reflection and collective discussion, as well as provide practical demonstrations on the teaching and clinical field.
Course contents
The lessons cover the following themes:

1) Origins of psychology and birth of experimental psychology; Evolution of psychological thinking in the twentieth century (from physiological psychology to neuroconstruttivism).

2) the basics of psychological research methodology.

3) Study of cognitive processes (sensation and perception, memory and representation of knowledge, executive functions, metacognition and social learning, communication, emotion, reasoning, social judgement and decision making).

4) Notes on cognitive and socio-emotional development; Theory of Mind and psychological lexicon.

5) Introduction to Neuropathology and Psychopathology affecting the major cognitive processes faced.

6) Learning difficulties and special educational needs (BES)
Teaching methods
Lectures and interactive lessons integrated with exercises and videos.
