Good knowledge of Early Modern History ( XVI-XVIII centuries);
Language skills sufficient for use bibliography in foreign languages
Learning outcomes
Ability to read and to use historical sources,
Ability in selection and critical analisis of specialistic bibliography
Ability to link between different problem areas.
A solid knowledge of the historical method.
Course contents
The course, which stands in continuity with the two previous years, dedicated to the history of human rights , will - in the framework of a reflection of long- term and broad-spectrum , on the phenomenon of slavery , - outline a panorama of the presence of slaves both in European countries and on other shores of the Mediterranean between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries
Teaching methods
The course will be held as a seminar, preceded by a few preliminary lectures.

Assessment methods
The students attending the course will write and discuss a paper on a subject which will be decided during the course. As for the oral exam, see the bibliography above.
Non-attending students will plan their exam (oral and written) with the course lecturer, at the beginning of the course.
