Learning outcomes
The two main Objectives are:
O1) understanding the logic of economic choices and their effects on system efficiency
O2) applying this logic to the problems of information and knowledge
Course contents
PART 1:
- the logic of individual choice in microeconomics
- demand and supply
- equilibrium and efficiency
- monopoly
- externalities, public goods and information asymmetries

PART 2:
- information and uncertainty, with applications to financial markets
- effects of information asymmetries
- innnovation, patents, monopoly
- copyright and knowledge
- internet, network externalities, bundling
Teaching methods
Mainly lectures; summary exercise classes at the end of Part 1; if the number of attending students allows, group works in Part 2 will be organized

Assessment methods
The summary exercise class on Part 1 (multiple choice) will be considered for the final assessment. The final exam (written) will contain some short open question on Part 1, in order to assess the Learning outcomes related to Objective O1. The final exam will also inclulde a longer paper in order to asses the reasoning abilities related to Objective O2: this paper MIGHT be substituted by the papers resulting from the POSSIBLE work groups quoted in the "Teching methods"
