Course contents
The experience of pain. Concepts, problems, critical analysis.

Pain is a fundamental and universal experience, concerning all human beings. But the experience of pain is characterized by extremely differentiated facets, and therefore has led to very different representations and conceptualizations of its nature and its meaning. The laboratory aims, in the first place, to examine some of the cultural forms worked out by humanity in order to understand the meaning of the experience of pain, from the origins to the most recent ones. Starting from the work done by David Le Breton, anthropologist, sociologist and philosopher who has extensively worked on the topic, the laboratory should be seen as a space for reflection and experimentation of a plurality of concepts and a variety of works, with the aim of bringing to the fore a possible innovative conception of experience, liable to provide the basis for possible developments in the direction of creating a research group specialized in this theme.
