Prerequisites
Acquisition of 12 CFU in Germanic Philology in the triennium.
Learning outcomes
The course aims at an advanced philological investigation of medieval Germanic texts, paying particular attention to Old English and Old High German traditions.
Course contents
"The course aims at the acquisition of a knowledge in the fields of textual criticism and codicology, as far as medieval Germanic manuscript tradition is concerned. Old English, Old High German and Old Norse literatures will be introduced, and then Germanic medieval texts concerning the theme of Doomsday will be read, translated and analysed; "Voluspa", "Muspilli", and varorious Old English compositions, both in poetry and prose.
