Prerequisites
It’s essential for the Students attending this course to have the knowledge of the principal stages in typical development.
Learning outcomes
The first Objective of the Course is to give the Students a framework for psychopathological diagnosis (from early Childhood to Adolescence). The Classification 0-3 and the DSM-V will be the principal tools of reference for the diagnosis. The Student will be also made sensitive to the distinction between the descriptive diagnosis and a more structural dimension of the diagnosis.
The Students must be able to formulate a correct diagnosis and to indicate the principal guidelines for the therapeutic intervention.
Course contents
We will introduce the discipline of developmental psychopathology, its historical origin in the psychopathological field and the main models of reference which exist.
The main diagnostic tools available to the clinician will be described. In this way, the Student will be able to choose better, in the field of the clinical activity, the most appropriate assessment tools (according to the clinical case and the age of the Child).
A short specific part will be dedicated to Eating Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence.

We will also propose the discussion of a series of clinical cases to consent a “guided practice” discussion on diagnosis and a hypothesis of adequate therapeutic interventions on the specific situations.
Specifically:
- What is Developmental Psychopathology
- Psychological Anamnesis
- Intellectual Disability
- Internalisation Disorders
- Externalisation Disorders

- Eating Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence
- Work on Parenting
- The Main Therapeutic Interventions in Developmental Psychopathology
