Prerequisites
Have acquired at least 18 CFU in Italian Literature during the three-year undergraduate degree. Students who have fewer than 18 CFU will have to study additional course material.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main tools and methods of study relating to discipline, and to expand the canon of authors and texts covered during the 1st degree courses (Laurea triennale) of Italian Literature.
Course contents
CORE LECTURES: Ninetheenth century and first Twentieth century Literature: from Monti to D'Annunzio.
MONOGRAPHIC LECTURES:
MODULE A (prof. C. Riccardi):The Italian novels of the nineteenth century, with particular reference to "Vita dei campi" and "Novelle rusticane" by Giovanni Verga
MODULE B (prof. G. Lavezzi):
"Myricae" by Giovanni Pascoli. Philological, thematic and stylistic analysis.

Assessment methods
Examinations. The examination verifies: 1) the in-depth knowledge of nineteenth-century literature; From Monti to D'Annunzio; Knowledge of critical historical-critical data and the ability to analyze the texts introduced and annotated in the on-line edition of the manual are required. Specifically, the narrative and / or lyric structures, content, language, and style structures must be taken into account in the analysis.
2) knowledge of the content of the lectures of the two modules.
In some exceptional and documented circumstances, it may be possible to agree with the instructor an individual exam program.
Further information
It will only be possible to sit the two modules during one exame session.No separate exams for each course module will be held.


The activity is split
