Prerequisites
Modern Language students must have passed the third-year examination of French Literature (Triennial Degree).
Learning outcomes
The course is based on those historical and critical rudiments which students will have acquired in the course of «French literature 3». The aim is to broaden the student’s literary awareness and to develop, possibly through set written papers, a variety of methodological and cultural competences and an adequate approach to literary texts in French.

Students have to attend the following course for 9 credits and 54 hours (3d and 4th trimesters):
Lectures of “Phèdre”(1677) by Jean Racine: Leo Spitzer, Lucien Goldmann, Roland Barthes, Francesco Orlando.

Second Year.
