Prerequisites
Being the first course speficaramente dedicated to the history of cinema, there are no special prerequisites. However, given the highly interdisciplinary nature of matter (expressive codes range from literature to the Visual Arts) you should have basic skills related to history of literature and art, as well as have a good knowledge of the history of the twentieth century.
Learning outcomes
The course provides knowledge and tools in order to understand theoretical, textual and historical analysis of cinema from 1945 up to present day.
Course contents
The course aims to study the languages and forms of cinema of modernity, examining the general features of the cinema after the war to the season postmodern (Italian neorealism, Nouvelle Vague, European auteur cinema, New American Cinema).

The course includes a workshop of analysis around a Stanley Kubrick's film.

The course includes an integrative seminar aimed at deepening the practice of film analysis. (Dr. Lorenzo Donghi, Drs Giada Cipollone)

As part of the course will be given a filmography of importance to the knowledge of the history of cinema.
Teaching methods
The course is based on the following taching methods:
1- Traditional lectures
2. Slides, especially concerning visual and iconographic sourcesdirctor
3. View and comment of videos/film/installations
4. Presence of external guests (directors, artists, producers, etc)
5. Planning of film viewing
6. Sharing of all teaching materials on Platform Kiro
