Prerequisites
1) For students of the philological-literary curriculum: having passed the examination of Russian Language 2 and Russian Literature 2
2) For students of the professional curriculum: having passed the examination of Russian Language 2
Learning outcomes
Starting from the alphabet and phonetics of Russian Cyrillic, the courses of the first three years are intended to progressively lead the students to the basic language skills (reading, writing, and written and oral comprehension of simple conversational and literary texts).

The course is preparatory for Russian Literature 3.
Course contents
During the lessons will be analyzed the links between the different elements of the simple sentence and the most important hierarchical structures in the phrase.

Morphology: formation of gerund and participle.
Syntax: participle and gerund, the formation of participle and gerund.
The principal relations in the simple period (prepositions and rections of verbs); impersonal clause; subordinate clauses: declarative, complementary, indirect interrogative, final clause, concessive clause, temporal clause, causal clause, conditional clause. Rections of the most used verbs.
Prepositional complements (time, place, fault and others)

Communicative competences: to give information, instructions, suggestions, to express whishes, interests, preference, personal opinions; to undertand differents types of texts, short messages on the radio, TV and press; to communicate in formal and informal situations; to write letters and applications; to take down dictation.

Developing the skills of listening, analyzing and reworking of oral conversations, messages, and different types of texts.
The course will be supported by practical exercises in language, taught by Assistant Language (CEL), which will have annual duration.
Teaching methods
The course is comprised of frontal lessons (professor's module) and integrative teaching by CEL (Collaborator and language expert).

All materials and books are available in the department of modern foreign languages ​​and literatures.
During the years some texts will be distributed for self-work. These texts will be a part of the oral exam.
Non-attending students are invited to contact the professor.
Assessment methods
Preliminary written test and oral exam. The oral exam will demonstrate the acquired knowledge, speaking skills, as well as the ability to communicate.
